EL festival de cine Independiente Slamdance anuncion los títulos que entrarán en competición este año, en su 16ª edición. Tendrá lugar entre el 21 y 28 de Enero de 2010 en Park City, Utah. En él debutaran 10 películas y 8 documentales.
Todo en línea con el lema del festival: 'By filmmakers, for filmmakers' (Por cineastas, para cineastas). No hay otro festival totalmente programado por los cineastas.
Como organización activa durante todo el año, Slamdance sirve como un escaparate para el descubrimiento de nuevos talentos emergentes y se dedica a la crianza y desarrollo de nuevos artistas independientes y su visión del cine. Para el Festival de Slamdance de 2010 recibió un número récord de más de 5.000 presentaciones.
El Slamdance Film Festival, patrocinado de nuevo por Kodak, tendrá lugar simultáneamente con el Festival de Cine de Sundance, en Enero 21-28 de 2010 en Park City, Utah.
Slamdance cuenta entre sus ex alumnos muchos guionistas y directores notables que se dieron a concocer por primera vez durante el festival, como Christopher Nolan, Marc Forster y Jared Hess.
La película de Oren Peli "Paranormal Activity" originalmente se presentó en Slamdance y ha recaudado desde entonces más de $ 100 millones en taquilla y convertirse en la película más rentable de Paramount.
Los nuevos cineastas y guionista de hoy en día se dan cuenta de que Slamdance es un gran lugar para lanzar sus carreras profesionales.
