•La Academia anunció tambien la lista corta de los Cortos en la categoria Documental, reduciéndola a 8 contendientes, de esta list saldrán de 3 a 5 nominados.

Los votantes de la Rama Documental de la Academia, visionaron los 31 cortos eligibles este año y votaron para crear esta lista corta.

Las nominaciones para los 85th Academy Awards se anunciarán el Jueves, 10 de Enero de 2013, y la retransmisión de la Ceremonia de entrega de Premios será el Domingo, 24 de Febrero de 2013 en el Dolby Theatre™ en el Hollywood & Highland Center® en Hollywood, y será televisada, por la cadena de televisión ABC a más de 225 países.
